The main goal of this Summer School from June 19-30 is that the participants are researching the challenges in the field of human rights faced by the States of Central Asia. The participants need to investigate with the professors the current problems that limit the promotion and protection of human rights in the Central Asian States. The Summer school immerses participants in the research on the impact of authoritarianism, corruption, technology, art, communications, and conflicts on human rights.

During the first week of Summer School, our students engaged in discussions on important topics such as:

-distinction and critical assessment of various standards of human rights protection adopted by courts and tribunals of different states/international organisations in the field of social and economic law (Economics of human rights in Central Asia)

- definition of the concept of "Violence against women", differences

and identification of types of violence, as also differences in mechanisms for protecting women's rights at the international and local levels;

-Students had to explain the relationship between corruption and human rights, how corruption affects the implementation of various categories of human rights

The event is actively participated by professors from the IBL department as mentors, five fellows of the human rights program, and participants from Central Asian countries.

We express our gratitude to donors -Open Society Foundations for their initiatives to assist in implementing such an important event for our university and the participants of the Summer School!
