Job Description:

The General Education Department invites applications for a full-time听 position in Russian Language and Literature Instructor beginning August 1, 2024. The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarly research, and service to the department and institution.

Responsibilities include:

- Teaching Russian Language and Literature to the undergraduate students ranging from beginners to advanced levels.

- Developing innovative and engaging curriculum materials to support language instruction and cultural immersion.

- Conducting scholarly research in the field of Russian language and literature, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at academic conferences.

- Contributing to the academic community through departmental and university service, including participation in committees and engagement with relevant academic organizations.

Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Russian Language and Literature.

- Proficient command of academic English.

- Demonstrated excellence in teaching Russian as a foreign language at the university level for more than three years.

- Strong research agenda and potential for scholarly productivity in the field of Russian language and literature.

- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and a commitment to fostering inclusivity and equity in the classroom.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

听The Department of General Education at the 偶蜜国际传媒 invites applications from candidates for 2 full-time faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The position will involve teaching at least six undergraduate-level courses a year (three per semester) in First-year Seminar (FYS), Second-year Seminar (SYS), and English Composition. These courses are General Education requirements for the joint 偶蜜国际传媒抬鈥揃ard College degree, focusing on developing and enhancing students鈥� basic skills in academic reading, writing, thinking, and speaking. FYS and English Composition are taught in combination, based on a common syllabus across all sections, with a focus on key texts and ideas in historical thought and cultural monuments. SYS is a topics course that continues and builds upon the work of FYS and English Composition, with individual faculty free to choose the topic of the course based on their teaching and research expertise. Accommodations in teaching load may be offered based on research activities. Responsibilities also include service activities at the departmental and university levels.

REQUIREMENTS

• MA/MSc or Ph.D., preferably in arts, humanities, or social sciences
• Experience of teaching in an English-medium university environment
• Excellent command of Academic English (all courses are taught in English)
• Evidence of experience and commitment to writing-based pedagogy

Part Time Faculty for Adolescent Development Course

The MA in Teaching (MAT) Program at the 偶蜜国际传媒 (偶蜜国际传媒) is inviting applications from qualified candidates for a part-time faculty position - rank open. Candidates should hold a PhD or MA in Psychology, Adolescent Development, or related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and / or prior engagement in teacher development.

The Adolescent Development course aims to give teachers and teacher candidates (MAT students) a clear understanding of adolescence so that these educators can make research-based decisions in their day-to-day teaching practices that facilitates adolescents鈥� learning. The course introduces students to essential theories underpinning current understanding of adolescent development as well as introduces students (teachers) to the importance of social emotional learning.

The MA in Teaching program at 偶蜜国际传媒 is an innovative dual-degree graduate program in teacher education - offering a Masters in Pedagogy from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Education, and an MAT degree from Bard College, New York. The program offers a unique blended-learning approach with a strong focus on teaching practice, and has a diverse student body from across Central Asia. The language of instruction is English.听

Roles and Responsibilities听

A Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) part-time faculty member works as an instructor with the Institute of Education (IOE) and MAT programming and supports MAT students through solid, research-based instruction. The tasks involved include

• Teaching one six-credit course on Adolescent Development;
• Designing a syllabus or revising the current MAT Adolescent Development syllabus to align with MAT program outcomes and significant research in the field;
• Teaching face-to-face during the summer semester;
• Holding 1-2 office hours weekly;
• Implementing 偶蜜国际传媒 and MAT policies as part of course instruction.

Qualities of Part-Time MAT Faculty:

• a PhD or MA holder in Psychology, Adolescent Development and / or related field;听

The MA in Teaching (MAT) Program at the 偶蜜国际传媒 (偶蜜国际传媒) is inviting applications from qualified candidates for a part-time faculty position - rank open. Candidates should hold a PhD or MA in Inclusive Education, Special Education, or related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and / or prior engagement in teacher development.

The Inclusive Education course aims to give teachers and teacher candidates (MAT students) a clear understanding of inclusive education and its practical implementation in schools both in Kyrgyzstan and throughout the world. The course should review research-based practices in providing inclusive education to students, helping MAT students recognize best practice within the field and consider applications to the schools and regions where they teach.
